The Perfect Metronome-Product Review
Posted: September 22, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »At Freedom Church we have been searching for the best metronome to use for our drummers. After searching high and low I came across a little gem called a Peterson Body Beat BBS-1. It is a wireless pulsating metronome. It comes with a pulsator that your drummer can wear and this will allow him/her to actually feel the 4/4 timing rather than hearing. Another upside to this marvelous piece of equipment is that if you have a few of these things you can sync them together. You can assign one of them to be the master. For instance if your drummer has one set on master and he/she hits play the rest of the bands will also begin to play the same tempo. Or you can give one to the drummer and place a second one at the sound board. Plug it in the sound board and run that click through the in-ear system. These puppies will cost you around $129 a unit. You can get them just about anywhere online. I ordered ours from musicians friend.
8 Things the Worship Pastor Wants His Band to Know
Posted: September 14, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »Eight things that the Worship Pastor wants his band to know…
1. Always, Always, Always tune before you begin the set. Never tune while the Pastor is speaking. Even if you are muted.
2. Don’t hit strings in between songs. Mute your instrument.
3. You should never ask, ‘So how does this next song go again?” right before we play it.
4. Transitions, transitions, transitions. Never allow more than 2 seconds of dead air.
5. Realize that you are not just playing an instrument, you are leading worship.
6. We strive for excellence so be open for criticism.
7. Be prepared spiritually.
8. I am not perfect. I will make leadership mistakes.

More Detail to our new Journey
Posted: June 30, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 Comment »First of all I want to say how thankful I am to First Baptist Church. They have gone above and beyond to take care of my family. I have been impacted by many people at FBC. So I am emotional about my departure but excited about this new journey. I am in prayer for the church! I pray God’s blessings and that He provides in a mighty way for you!
The journey is complicated to explain, but I know God has been at work for a long time. This was written by Pastor Shawn today. It gives more insight to how God has worked over the past few years to get me to this point.
Freedom Church, it is with great excitement that I announce that Robbie Foreman will be joining our staff elder team as an Assisting Pastor.
Robbie’s primary role will be as our Worship Leader along with weekend experience oversight. Robbie brings a great amount of experience, wisdom and enthusiasm into this role in addition to he and Allison being a huge part of this God story.
I met Robbie via email almost four years ago. I had just preached a sermon at Elevation Church that dealt with the loss of a baby for Connie and me and Robbie and Allison found themselves in the painful aftermath of sweet Hannah going to heaven prior to birth. Robbie needed to talk to someone who had been through the hell that he was facing. God used our experience to help. I had no idea how significant that day would turn out to be.
It was a God moment. Looking back on it, God seemed to stop time and orchestrate Robbie and I connecting in a brief but significantly emotional way. Who knew, besides God, that this was the beginning of a life-long friendship and partnership in Ministry. Thank you God and thank you Hannah.
Over the next few years we exchanged a few Facebook messages. One in early 2010 would let me know that Robbie was actually moving to the area and wanted to ask me to be his mentor. When he said he was moving to Moncks Corner Robbie had no idea that God had placed Moncks Corner on my heart in such a vibrant way that his email was simply another convincing voice from God.
Over the next year we experienced “the story” together becoming convinced that God had brought he and Allison here to Moncks Corner to be a part of the vision that God had given Connie and me.
Then we hit a road block. Just a little one to God, but a huge one to us. Honestly, March 28th was as painful to Robbie and Allison as anyone because we knew God had called us to do ministry together. We needed to listen to God.
Over the next few weeks and months we would explore God’s word, seek wisdom and council and find where God was working and see if we could not join him. I believe that today we have done just that.
Robbie is a man of character who has served his last months as First Baptist Church in a way that few would have. He never bailed emotionally on the students or dialed it in for a single service – that has shown me so much about him. I appreciate the honor that he has shown.
