About Me

My life has been changed by the power of God through Jesus when He connected with me outside the boundary lines drawn by religious culture which is where He continues to meet me.

My name is Robbie Foreman and I am the Worship Pastor at Freedom Church in Moncks Corner, SC (www.freedomchurch.sc).  Everything here, however, is my personal opinion and is not read or approved by Freedom Church before it is posted. Opinions, conclusions and other information expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of Freedom Church.

    Robbie,

Hi! My name is Mike Breen and I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been following your blog for a little while and think you’ve had some really interesting things to say. And interestingly enough, I don’t live too far from you. I’m in Pawleys Island, SC.

You may or not know me. I was on The Nines a few weeks ago talking about Missional Communities (MCs). The church I led in the UK first started MCs over 15 years ago when we transitioned from being an attractional-only church to a missional/discipling church. Five years after pioneering MCs we had grown to become the largest church in England. I’ve recently finished a book based on my experience called Launching Missional Communities.

Missional Communities are obviously a hot topic in the American Church as of late. Many people are talking and writing about them – mostly from a theoretical point of view. Given that so few church leaders have tangible experience with MCs, many people have asked us to write a book on the practical realities of launching them in the local church. Basically…how in the world do you do this?!

My friend Alan Hirsch was good enough to endorse the book saying, “For years I’ve written about what the future of the church might look like. Consider this one of the best books around at actually doing the real thing.”

Based on what I’ve seen on your blog, you seem really interested in where the Church is headed and what we can do to lead people to a fuller understanding of mission, discipleship, culture, etc.

Because of this, I was wondering if you might be interested in receiving a free copy of Launching Missional Communities: a Field Guide and writing a review on your blog? I imagine you’ll like it quite a bit, but obviously we’d want an honest assessment of the book for your readers (which also gives us helpful feedback for upcoming editions).

If you’d be able to do that, I’d greatly appreciate it. Let me know if that’s something you’d be up for.

Lastly, not sure if you’ll be at the Exponential Conference in April, but I’d love to meet and catch up if you’re there.

    Grace + Peace,
    Mike
